Our goal is to enhance the lives of senior adults by ministering to their physical, mental, spiritual, educational and social needs. We offer many programs not only to the senior adults of our parish, but to those in the wider community as well. If you would like more information or to volunteer, or if you know someone who might benefit from any of our programs, please contact the Office of Parish Life.
Lunch & Learns
Periodically we have lunch & learns on a variety of different subjects. Please keep an eye out for the monthly newsletter which will have more specific information when a lunch & learn is scheduled.
Lunch & a Movie
If there is a good movie showing in theaters, we will go to lunch and then to see the movie. If there is a movie that is streaming online, we bring lunch in and watch the movie at the church. Whichever way we do it, it's a fun afternoon. Again, keep an eye out for this activity in the bulletin or in the monthly newsletter for dates and times.
Monthly Day-Trips
Once a month, weather permitting, we go on a day trip to go something educational and/or fun, like a museum, a ride in the water taxi in Bricktown, or touring the weather center in Norman. Our trips always include lunch as well. These are always listed in the monthly newsletter and in the bulletin.
Afternoon Bunco
Join us for a fun game of Bunco on the last Tuesday each month at 1:30pm. This is a very easy game to learn, lots of fun, and a wonderful way to meet other parishioners. Please bring a snack to share (if you wish, but not mandatory) and $3 to play. RSVPs are necessary.
Evening Wine and Bingo
Adult (any age is welcome - not just senior adults) only wine and Bingo is always on the third Sunday evening from 7-8:30pm every month (except June and December). Cards are $5 each, and if you bring a snack to share, you get a card free! Cash prize for every game.
Home Maintenance
Experienced volunteers help parishioners with minor tasks and home repairs. We are always looking for handy men and women who would like to volunteer!
Intergenerational Programs
In fellowship with Christ the King School, this ministry unites senior adults of the parish with young students to enrich both generations.
The Parish Star program pairs senior adults with students in first grade. Seniors and their students exchange greeting cards for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter and meet at least twice in order to foster a lovely relationship that could last many years..
Seventh grade students participate in the annual Life Story Project, in which they interview a senior adult and write their life story for inclusion in a specially published book. The stories are fascinating and often humorous, and the experience invariably leads to a greater appreciate of each generation for the other. The Life Story Book has been featured in a Sunday Oklahoman article!
Liturgies for the Homebound
Homebound persons can be scheduled to receive the eucharist weekly in their homes, and they may also watch a live stream of the 10am Mass on Sundays HERE.
Transportation
Volunteers drive the Christ the King bus to provide a ride for parishioners to weekend Masses. Our van is equipped with a wheelchair lift.
